Top 40: The Best Of This Weeks Theatre (March 21st - 27th)

It's a big week for theatre this week with some massive shows not only streaming but also airing on TV and on Netflix so it feels fitting that this is the biggest weekly post I've ever done. Prepare yourself for a whopping 40 shows to watch over the next 7 days:


WHAT?

ITV have brought back All Star Musicals for another episode. The show features celebrities performing musical theatre classics. Hosted by John Barrowman, catch stars including Rob Rinder, Dr Ranj Sigh and Barney Walsh perform for a judging panel of Elaine Paige, Samantha Barks and Trevor Dion Nicholas. The show also features a performance from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella sung by Carrie Hope Fletcher and introduced by the Lord himself.

The show airs on Sunday 21st March from 6.30-8pm

WHERE?

It airs on ITV1.


WHAT?

70 concerts from both series of Leave A Light On are streaming again, with two shows each night. This week the series continues with some absolutely massive West End stars from shows including Wicked, &Juliet, Waitress and Dear Evan Hansen.

Four of Broadway's original Disney princesses perform songs from their musicals as well as other musical theatre numbers. Susan Egan (Beauty and the Beast), Aisha Jackson (Frozen), Laura Osnes (Cinderella) and Courtney Reed (Aladdin) perform live from the Hylton Center.

WHEN?

It streams on Sunday 21st March at 4pm ET which is 9pm in the UK.

WHAT?

This week in Seth Rudetsky's weekly concert series he is joined by the star of Hairspray, On The Town and The Addams Family Jackie Hoffman.

WHEN?

It takes place live on Sunday 21st March at 3pm ET which is 8pm in the UK and is repeated at 8pm ET which is 1am in the UK .

WHAT?

An online experience giving writers a chance to say the unsaid, this event will showcase seven performances of new writings from talented women/

It will be broadcast via Zoom on Monday 22nd March at 8pm.

The biggest show this week is the latest virtual production from Lambert Jackson. Featuring a stellar cast of Emma Kingston, Newtion Matthews, Marisha Wallace and Jamie Muscato, BKLYN is a story within a story about a troupe of street performers. WHEN?

WHAT?

Shane Richie stars as the titular tragic clown in the digital revival of this one-man play. If you missed the amazing Treason first time around, you have no excuse to not remember to watch it this time around. This new musical about the Gunpowder Plot was filmed at Cadogan Hall with an all star cast including Lucie Jones, Bradley Jaden, Cedric Neal, Oliver Tompsett and Sharon Rose.

40 musical theatre and drama graduates will take part in a series of three charity concerts filmed at Cadogan Hall. Hosted by Courtney Bowman, Grace Mouat and Luke Bayer, the concerts are supporting Acting For Others.

There is another chance to see the 21st annual Whats on stage awards. Hosted by Jodie Prenger and Tom Read Wilson, the celebration of musicals will feature performances from shows including The Prince of Egypt, RENT and Hair.
